Damian Patton was named the next director and Jean W. Roach Chair of Laboratory Schools in the TCU College of Education.

When TCU classes went virtual in March, associate professor Hayat Hokayem and doctoral students Savannah Graham and Alex Tolar needed a way to motivate their undergraduate students to learn scientific concepts in an online environment. Without the use of their typically hands-on learning activities in a classroom, they developed a lesson plan on a subject top of mind for most: COVID-19.

Suzie Almy earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1987 and earned her elementary education certification in 1994 from TCU. She teaches at High Point Academy, a charter school in Fort Worth.

Julie McAvoy earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education  in 1990 and is now the Principal at Donna Park Elementary in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District.

The College of Education congratulates all students who are graduating this semester. While we’re unable to gather in person for commencement, hooding and pinning ceremonies in December due to the pandemic, we celebrate the accomplishments of students like Stacy Vasquez, who earned his Ph.D. in Science Education and works as a Professor of Biology at Dallas College. He's passionate about teaching science in a way that addresses students' lived experiences and societal issues.

Bryce MacDougall earned his Bachelor of Science in Education in 2019 and is now a social studies teacher and assistant football and soccer coach at Castleberry High School in Castleberry ISD.

Allison Davis earned her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood-6th Grade Education in 2018, graduating with university honors. She is now a K-8 Spanish teacher at St. Paul Lutheran School in Fort Worth and published her children's book, Hope the Dog, in October.

As students enter the final year of TCU’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program in the College of Education, they practice their clinical skills in a 600-hour internship working with clients at various schools, agencies and hospitals in the community.
