in the right direction. Please consult any of the resources provided here for any
relevant information regarding your student and his or her learning needs.
The National Center for Learning Disabilities provides countless resources for students
and families of students with learning differences. By providing information, programming,
and other forms of assistance, the NCLD aims to aid all students with learning differences
both in and out of the classroom
The Learning Disabilities Association of Texas pledges to raise awareness for different
types of learning disabilities and education about the effects they can have on one’s
life. Through this goal, it aims to bolster educational opportunities for those with
any type of learning difference.
The Learning Center of North Texas provides testing, support, and events for students
and families of students with learning disabilities. It aims to provide practical,
accessible, and affordable resources for anyone affected by learning differences.
The Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children provides testing and services for learning
disorders, though primarily for dyslexia. The Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and
Learning Disorders is focused on research, testing, and support for any students with
dyslexia or any related learning disabilities.
MindUP is an initiative from The Hawn Foundation which conducts significant research
in cognitive neuroscience, evidence-based classroom pedagogy, best-practices mindful
education, precepts of social and emotional learning (SEL), and guiding principles
of positive psychology.
Lindamood-Bell provides much of the curricula and many of the philosophies utilized
at Starpoint in language arts. By providing unique perspectives on reading, writing,
spelling, and language comprehension, Lindamood-Bell aims to enhance learning for
Texas Christian University is a leading liberal-arts focused university located in
Fort Worth, Texas. The TCU College of Education houses Starpoint School and gives
it support throughout the academic school year. TCU has a strong relationship with
Starpoint and provides the school with countless unique learning opportunities.
With more adaptive technologies and progressive legislature, prospective college students
with disabilities have countless resources available to make the transition to higher
education less stressful.
