TCU’s College of Education is increasing access to graduate education with the launch of the Pathways to Purpose scholarship for its Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. The guaranteed scholarship provides up to $88,000 in financial support to newly admitted students, reducing the total degree cost to approximately $45,000.

This initiative aims to make high-quality education more accessible to students dedicated to serving the mental needs of communities near and far.

“Investing in the next generation of counselors underscores TCU’s vision in action,” said Frank Hernandez, dean of the College of Education. “This scholarship ensures more students can pursue their dreams while contributing to the well-being of others.”

Preparing Counselors to Make a Difference
The M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at TCU, accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), prepares professionals to address mental health challenges and create lasting social impact. With an emphasis on equity, diversity and community engagement, graduates are equipped for roles in private practice, schools, social services, health care and more.

Employment for mental health counselors is projected to grow 22% by 2031, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. TCU aims to meet this demand by preparing skilled professionals ready to serve individuals and families.

“Counselors play a vital role in promoting mental health and building stronger communities,” Hernandez said. “Through the Pathways to Purpose scholarship, we’re ensuring financial barriers don’t prevent aspiring counselors from making a meaningful difference.”

Commitment to Social Impact
The Clinical Mental Health Counseling program aligns with TCU’s legacy of addressing critical societal needs. Alongside the new online M.Ed. in School Counseling program, these initiatives underscore TCU’s strategic plan, LEAD On: Values in Action™.

With specializations in trauma-informed care and family counseling, the program equips graduates to address the diverse needs of their communities.
