On Nov. 23, TCU College of Education and TCU Athletics celebrated educators at the Educator Appreciation Football Game at Amon G. Carter Stadium, recognizing their contributions to students and communities. Sponsored by EECU, the recognition highlighted TCU’s commitment to honoring those who shape future generations.

More than 200 complimentary tickets were provided to teachers, counselors and administrators across North Texas, creating a memorable moment when educators stood during the game for recognition.

Kristy Butler, a TCU graduate and middle school mathematics teacher in Northwest ISD, was named the College of Education’s Teacher of the Year. Butler, who holds a bachelor’s degree in middle school mathematics education from TCU and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction in mathematics from the University of Texas at Arlington, has 19 years of teaching experience.

Butler’s accolades include the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the nation’s highest honor for K-12 educators in these fields. Presented by President Joe Biden, the award recognized her exceptional mentorship and innovative teaching strategies.

As part of the celebration, Butler and her family received an exclusive tour of TCU Athletics facilities, where they learned about the holistic development of Horned Frog athletes.

The festivities were part of TCU College of Education’s centennial celebration, highlighting a century of impact in empowering educators.

“As we cheer for the Horned Frogs, we celebrate educators who empower students every day,” Hernandez said. “Their impact extends beyond classrooms, shaping brighter futures.”

The Horned Frogs capped the celebration with a victory against Arizona, adding to the excitement of the day. The Educator Appreciation Football Game underscores TCU’s dedication to supporting educators, building community connections and fostering a culture of gratitude.
