Each summer, the TCU College of Education hosts the iEngage Civics Institute to prepare rising sixth through ninth grade students for advocacy, leadership and compromise. Throughout the five-day institute, youth develop their advocacy skills and learn how to make a difference in their neighborhood, school and community.
This year, NBC 5 education reporter Wayne Carter saw firsthand how the College of Education at TCU is equipping youth with skills in leadership and compromise, thanks to the efforts of faculty, staff and students, as well as local teachers and non-profit leaders.

By spending a week immersed in civic engagement, campers gain valuable civic and leadership
knowledge with opportunities to practice what they learn through iCivics simulations, group activities and culminating advocacy projects presented to family
and community members.
iEngage 2024 advocacy projects addressed cyberbullying, food bank accessibility, food insecurity, peer pressure in school, resources for homeless families and pet adoptions.
