The College of Education is excited to announce the naming of three associate deans, expanding the college's leadership to include research, strategic partnerships, and academic innovation.
"This expanded leadership structure reflects our commitment to strengthening every dimension of the College of Education's mission”, states Dean Frank Hernandez. “By dedicating focused leadership to graduate studies and partnerships, research and academic affairs, and undergraduate innovation, we're positioning COE to grow more strategically and serve our students, faculty, and community partners more effectively than ever. Gabriel, Miriam, and Cynthia each bring deep expertise and genuine passion to these roles, and I'm confident their leadership will accelerate the momentum already building across our college."
Gabriel Huddleston
Associate Dean of Graduate Studies, Faculty Affairs and Strategic Partnerships
Huddleston, associate professor of curriculum and director of the Center for Public
Education and Community Engagement, will now oversee the college’s robust graduate
programs, faculty development and recruiting and collaborative partnerships with community
and industry organizations.
“There are many aspects of this position that excite me, with graduate studies near
the top of the list,” Huddleston said. “I am deeply passionate about graduate education
and graduate students. Our programs, faculty, and students in the COE are impressive
in so many ways, and I can’t wait to support and advocate for them.”
Miriam Ezzani
Associate Dean for Research, Creative Activity and Academic Affairs
Ezzani, an associate professor of educational leadership, has been named to the new
role, created to expand research activity within the college as part of TCU’s path
to R1 status. Ezzani has already begun implementing a new research hub to elevate
the research conducted by the college’s faculty and students and the work they publish.
“I'm honored and energized to step into this new role,” Ezzani said. “I have admired
and been inspired by the work happening across our college, and I look forward to
supporting and showcasing our collective efforts!”
Cynthia Savage
Senior Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Academic Innovation and Accreditation
Previously in the role of Associate Dean of Teacher Education, Assessment, and Undergraduate
Studies, Savage will now center her work on the promotion of undergraduate student
success, educator preparation and the development of innovative academic programs,
such as the new Professional Aviation program. Also, a professor of professional practice
in counseling, societal change and inquiry, Savage has held several leadership positions
since 2006 and founded the Youth Advocacy program, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary
soon.
“My career has taken me across teaching, research, program development, assessment,
international education, and advocacy, but there is a common thread: I’m interested
in creating educational opportunities that are thoughtful, innovative, and genuinely
responsive to those they are designed to serve,” Savage said.
