Kaylee Skinner '23 (M.Ed. '24) quickly turned initial challenges as a transfer student into a launchpad for success thanks to mentorship and supportive community.

“From staying after hours to answer my questions, to the numerous ways they went above and beyond, my instructors made my training a life-altering experience,” said Skinner.

Her experience at Starpoint School, a TCU laboratory school for students with learning differences, exemplifies COE's commitment to educational excellence and professional readiness.

"There is no other school in the world that can outshine the experience I received at Starpoint...watching students fall in love with learning again was so inspiring," Skinner remarked.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in early childhood through sixth grade education, Skinner earned her master’s degree in special education through the COE accelerated master’s program which allows outstanding TCU undergraduates to earn their bachelor’s and master’s degree in five years.

Now a first-year teacher in Mansfield ISD, Skinner credits her success to the faculty and mentors who shaped her career, expressing profound gratitude for their support.

"Starpoint changed my life, from learning how to teach, to establishing strong relationships. I am forever grateful for the experiences at TCU that made me the confident teacher I am today,” she adds.
