Rain Doesn’t Ruin Starpoint Derby

homerun-derby-party-21Texas weather didn’t dampen any spirits for the Starpoint School on Saturday, September 24. Though thunderstorms caused partial postponement of the Starpoint Homerun Derby, guests were able to enjoy a dinner and concert with the Ray Johnston Band in the Brown-Lupton University Union. Starpoint students, alumni, staff, families, friends, members of the NCAA Regional Champion Horned Frog baseball team, members of the TCU women’s basketball team and SuperFrog joined in on the fun.

Despite the weather, the school reached its goal of 100% family participation and support for the event, and tickets sold out. All proceeds raised enable the Starpoint School to continue its groundbreaking work in special education with aspiring educators and children with learning differences.

The event kicked off celebrations for the Starpoint School’s 50th Anniversary. M.J. and Alice S. Neeley founded the school in 1966 to provide children with learning disabilities, ages six to eleven, the opportunity to reach their educational potential with the help of TCU faculty, staff, and students.
