Education Professor Faggella-Luby Selected as a “Professor Who Inspires”
Michael Faggella-Luby, associate professor of special education in the TCU College of Education, was selected in NerdScholar’s second annual list of “40 Under 40: Professors Who Inspire.” Faggella-Luby and his fellow honorees were chosen for their ability to captivate and engage students in their classroom, their involvement on campus and in the community, and their passion and enthusiasm for teaching. Nominations were collected from students, faculty, and alumni recommendations.
Dr. Faggella-Luby teaches courses that prepare future educators to teach students with diverse learning needs. His primary research interest focuses on improving reading comprehension for all levels of learners. He is also actively involved in research and community outreach programs through the TCU Alice Neeley Special Education Research and Service (ANSERS) Institute.
Not every teacher is described as a “superhero” by students, but that’s the case with Faggella-Luby at Texas Christian in Fort Worth. One student says they all love his passion for the course content, adding that Faggella-Luby “consistently made coming to class an enjoyable experience, and I always left feeling like I learned a lot!” Faggella-Luby says he is inspired most by his children and wants them “to grow up in a world that educates each child to become interdependent, self-determined, lifelong learners.”
