The purpose of the Spelling Bee is to help children improve their spelling, increase vocabulary, learn new concepts, and develop correct English usage that will help them for the rest of their lives. The Star-Telegram has sponsored the Regional Spelling Bee for over 30 years, giving thousands of students the chance to compete in the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. TCU’s College of Education has coordinated and sponsored the Regional Spelling Bee since 2011.
